We met onur hoca who is my thesis advisor. Talked about thesis process and aims of the research. There is 3 main parts of thesis 2 of them is a subject one of them is technique. In orderly, building energy concept, neural network prediction and lastly coding language as C#. I started coding and energy practice early days but ANN which is neural networks are quite fresh subject for me, it is better to start to get used to it idea and create more and more awareness. In addition to this issue, we are planning to create flow chart of thesis work process in order to content and methodology. Today was exhausted. I just focus on C# language which can work efficiently with grasshopper. I aim to create a new plug in that is the reason I am choosing learn coding. It is also good for a person who can not understand comprehensibly digital technologies but intented to learn it. For today, I took advice about working methodology. Today was full day of seminer which is about nearly zero energy building design. Seminer was at Egean University and made by Passivhaus-Institut. There are 5 key elements about NZEB :  Insulation ( lower U value) Thermal bridge-free Windows / doors ( expensive) (comfort) Air tightness Mechanical ventilation (creates more balanced temperatures) So to continue other issues. Building occurs lower campactness (exterior surfaces / volume) equal to 0.7. Management of windows about driection and sizes. Total continuous insulation is important. Windows are directly related with comfort and U-value should be lower than 0.8 W/m2K. Mechanical ventilation controls indoor temperature against heat loss. Air tightness prevent heet loss and support indoor heat balance. We have seen also PHPP that means Passive House Planning Package program that define passive energy performanc of buildings. It is a good time to improve  skills. The road started aiming to construct building energy consumption program. It continues with deeper energy knowledge (themes, units, workflows, etc.) and mathematical equations such as neural networks and optimization algorithms. Day by day many professions goes through coding base artificial algoritms. Architecture discipline can not escape this general tendance. Directly it effects the discipline because of the collaborative workflow. As an personal idea, It was great decision to join MSTAS.2017. It was effective to learn computational discipline basics and understand my position as an architect because  my bachelor education constructed on design base education system because of the conventional architectural education background. This is not wrong but it needs to enlarge theoritical background and jump thhrough several new disicplines. Thesis contains two main concept these are energy and neural networks to construct building energy consumption energy model. So, it is important to get knowledge about energy by the main resource which is EnergyPlus. EnergyPlus is free software that develops by U.S.A. Energy department. It all started after 1970 oil crisis. Buildings spend %40 percent of total energy and to decrease and control energy need  they have created database with several calculation method such as sub-hourly, etc. I have decided to focus all refined data to understand better the basics of energy. I realised that EnergyPlus has intention to encourage people to create programs works with EnergyPlus. Simultaneously, I am processing the C# learning form youtube because it will be needed to code ANN and understand the code based data's such as C++ which is the language of Energyplus. After 8 hours bus travelling from Ankara  to Izmir today was full recovery for my body and brain to balance location change. Just 2 hours C# plug in to grasshopper plug in capture my day as work. Because before start tutorials, I made pre-search about code learning and I read that it can be useful to learn algortihms to understand coding.  Just that, whole day try to solve about visual studio because I couldn't even write hello world coding from that. The last day of METU has started early as yesterday. Different clothes same breakfast. 15th june of conference was 3 session and my collegues and I present our work at first session of second day. First session has started with a research about computational language detection of all papers of MSTAS since 2007 and they working result shows that there is a lack of language translation from english to turkish and it defects terminologic outcomes. We faced this problem also while we were writing the conference paper of MSTAS. Committee realised that all papers has used different turkish words for same english provision. I think for this complicated situation I will start computational english-turkish dictionary. After that discussion we got on the stage and perform well. A professor from Itu proposed us to contact a big company and use their design and material data to enlarge our effort and one of the paper owner mention about cultural center construction. First day in Ankara started fast. Early in the morning waking up to prepare for conference. Inside Metu (middle east technical university) my friend Uğur take me to a place where is near bus stop to breakfast. 'Arkabahçe' is place that you can get your meal to your plate and you pay as what you got. About 09:00, we get on the ring and arrived to faculty of architecture at 09:10. Conference room is near the entrance of faculty  that's how I can find easily the crowd. Today, I gave a break thesis working because I had to go out from the city for conference. 14-15 june there is conference at METU that is called MSTAS.17. To clear the content of conference, it is computational researches and improvement at Architectural discipline. For this conference, we made a research of optimization problem and optimization algorithms forms from parameters and objective. Our definition contains UDI100-2000lux and yearly total energy consumption of building ( heating, cooling, articial lightning consumption ) as objectives and for the optimization algorithm we examine meta-heuristic optimization that is called 'HypE'. For the parameters we decide two types parameters first units are design parameters the other units material decisions.  We are strongly believe that it will be important to meet same working methodologies. I am Orçun Koral İşeri and I am master student of Computational Design and Energy at Yaşar University. Today is the first day of these daily writings. It will mostly contains issues about thesis. Of course I will talk about life period also :) Today I started search about Rıfat Sönmez who is civil engineer lecturer at METU . His field of interest focuses on pre-design cost optimization with ANN for construction and he can extract range estimation with ANN which is valuable fır my thesis.
